La Sagrada Familia is one of the most visited landmarks in Europe, and entry slots do sell out. A few things are worth knowing before you book.
Book a timed entry slot in advance
Every ticket includes a fixed entry time, and popular slots — especially mornings and weekends in peak season — can sell out days ahead. Booking online in advance guarantees your spot and skips the general admission queue entirely, rather than risking a same-day walk-up.
Pick the ticket type that matches how you want to visit
There are a few tiers, and the right one depends on how much time and interest you have:
- Entry only — the simplest option: guaranteed skip-the-line entry, self-guided, for visitors who mainly want to see the interior and facades.
- Entry + audio guide — the same entry, plus a self-paced audio tour (available in multiple languages) covering the building's history and symbolism, for a deeper visit without a live guide.
- Entry + tower access — adds timed elevator access up one of the towers for panoramic views over Barcelona, with a narrow spiral staircase back down. Not recommended if you have mobility concerns, vertigo, or claustrophobia.

Buy from an official or verified seller
Only buy from the basilica's own site or a verified reseller, and check that your confirmation includes a scannable QR code tied to a specific date and time. Unofficial resale listings and street sellers near the entrance are a common source of invalid or overpriced tickets.
Arrive early, and know the dress and bag policy
Arrive about 15 minutes before your entry slot — arriving late isn't guaranteed a spot in that time window. As an active place of worship, shoulders and knees should be covered. Large backpacks and suitcases aren't permitted, and there's no cloakroom on site, so plan to travel light.
Check the cancellation policy before you book
