Sagrada Família Guided Tour vs Audio Guide: Which Should You Choose?

October 27, 2026

Gaudí’s basilica is full of symbolism, from its sculpted façades to its forest of columns. How much of that you notice depends partly on how you visit. The two main options are a Sagrada Familia guided tour or a self-paced visit with the official audio guide. Here’s how they compare, so you can choose the right ticket before you go.

What the Standard Ticket Includes

According to the official website, the standard Sagrada Família ticket includes entry to the Basilica and museum for as long as you like, plus an audio guide downloaded through the official app. It doesn’t include the towers or the crypt.

The official audio guide

The Sagrada Familia audio guide is available in 19 languages, with sign-guides in Catalan, Spanish and International Sign. There’s a standard 45-minute version and an express 25-minute version. Bring your phone, charged, and headphones, since earphones are required during the 9:00–10:00 am quiet hour.

What a Guided Tour Adds

The official guided tour lasts about 50 minutes and is offered in several languages, depending on the season and time. The audio guide is still included, and you can explore the museum and the Liturgical path afterwards at your own pace.

A guide brings the building’s stories to life and answers your questions. If you prefer to book through a partner, a skip-the-line guided tour is a convenient option.

Guided Tour vs Audio Guide: Which Suits You?

Choose a guided tour if:

  • It’s your first visit and you want the history explained.

  • You enjoy asking questions and hearing stories from an expert.

  • You’d rather follow someone than navigate on your own.

Choose the audio guide if:

  • You like to move at your own pace and linger where you want.

  • You’re short on time and the 25-minute express version suits you.

  • You want the simplest option, such as a skip-the-line entry ticket.

What About the Towers?

Tower access needs a separate ticket type. You go up by lift and walk down, choosing either a Nativity façade tower or a Passion façade tower. Children under 6 can’t visit the towers, and the towers aren’t accessible for people with reduced mobility. A guided tour with an optional tower visit combines both experiences.

Things to Know for Either Option

  • Be on time. Entry is only valid on the date and time shown on your ticket.

  • Families: visitors under 16 must be with an adult, children under 3 don’t need a ticket, and the audio guide isn’t adapted for children under 10.

  • Accessibility: the Basilica visit itself is accessible for people with reduced mobility.
